Hubby’s Homemade Croutons: Cut fresh or slightly stale bread (my hubs says flavored is better, such as rosemary-salt) into bite-sized cubes. If desired, drizzle olive oil or sprinkle salt or herbs over the cubes. Toast in oven or toaster oven for about 5 minutes.

Homemade Mulled Cider: Toss desired amounts of cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cloves, and/or honey into a pot of apple cider (not juice). Simmer for about 30 minutes. Your home will get humidified, and also smell lovely. Strain out the cloves and allspice berries, or leave in.

Baked Pears with WalnutsHalve and core pears. Top with desired amounts of brown sugar and chopped walnuts and bake at 375° F until pears are tender. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
